What’s Holding You Back

I was once told by numerous health care professionals, that the more I stand and take a few steps on my walker the better I’ll get at doing it. Yet, I know in my heart that they are telling me the truth, I just couldn’t seem to get motivated back then. Could it have been that I fear falling face first. Well, yes!

Many have fears which eventually hold them back from doing or even trying something new.

Who wants to fail at anything? Failure only adds flames to fears and the more you think about it, the higher the flame grows. I always say “I’m my own worst critic”. I can set myself as high as the sky but when my fears set into my spirit, I can go as low as the ground causing me to shut down and not wanting to be bothered by anyone.

The bright side of something that holds you back is, learning from it. My parents always told me “it’s a learning lesson from any and every situation you encounter”. They also told me that I must identify the issue in order to rectify it. To solve any problem, you must first know what it is.

Once you identify what’s holding you back you can then deal with the problem but you need a game plan that involves a few steps.

If your thought process is anything similar to mine, your game plan includes more than just a and b. I’ve been living long enough to know that a true game plan might need abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxy and even z because it may take every last one of these steps to complete your plan. Trust me, you will be tired as all get out if it takes you to z to solve your problem but it will be worth it. Only when you put what’s holding you back to rest, will you be able to move on.

I have fallen since learning how to walk again. Let’s face it I’m going to take a few tumbles. Luckily, I’ve learned how to fall so I won’t injure myself bad and I haven‘t fallen on my face. Had I not took charge of what was holding me back, I wouldn’t be taking any steps.

Figure out what’s holding you back so you can live more abundantly.

    Shari,
“To solve a problem, you must first know what it is”, such a true statement. You parents’ words are definitely a key that could unlock the resolutions to a lot of people’s problems. I have always believed that identifying the “root cause” of an issue brings you to a viable solution. Loved this week’s blog! I pray that people will not only recognize that it is fear holding them back but for them to overcome their fear with faith! 🙂
