For the Love of Theo By: Guest-Blogger Diana Mairose

I love my dog, Tiny! I must admit, although I like dogs, I never wanted one of my own, until Tiny entered my life three years ago. It’s funny that even though she can’t talk, we communicate well. I know when she’s hungry, doesn’t feel well, wants a belly rub, or wants to play. In return, Tiny can sense when I’m sad, angry, or sick. No matter what state of mind of I’m in, Tiny can make me feel better. Tiny’s unspoken communication is real.  If you have a pet, I know you understand how they just “know” things.  I’m not the only one who feels this way about animals. My awesome friend and advocate, Diana Mairose, feels this way too. Learn why she loves her cat, Theo.

Thanks

Shari

Life can be hard; it has proven to be true this year. During the past year, I’ve dealt with my moms’ diagnosis of dementia. It has been difficult to not be able to do more to help her. With everything that has gone on, I don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t have my cat, Theodore Paul. Theo is my furry guardian angel. I have had Theo for four years. My friend Katie asked me if I wanted him. After meeting him, I fell in love with him. Theo is my first male cat that I ever had. There’s nothing better than the love of a pet. Theo knows when I feel nervous and happy. Theo makes me happy by doing funny things like sitting on my desk or dining room table. He also likes to pretend to be a greeter at the door when my family and friends come over. I believe a pet is good to have because it helps people with disabilities and those who have anxiety. I believe owning a pet teaches responsibility and raises your self-esteem. Learning how to take care of a pet takes skill and time. Theo is a cat that loves people. Having a pet is about loving and caring. We all need a furry friend in our life. If you are allergic to fur, there are many other animals to find or research online. Theo would love to type meow but has not learned that skill yet, so I did it for him. Take care my friends and remember to ask before you pet any animal you see.

Diana, what a lovely guest post, and Shari, thanks for sharing your blog space with a great lady! I cracked up when you said Theo would love to type. I am sorry to hear about your mom, and hope Theo continues to bring you joy. My cat Wembley is 15 and on his ninth life– I love him dearly.
