What to Know Before You Join the Auction

This page contains everything you need to know before browsing and bidding on vehicles for the Dayton Goodwill Auto Auction, including guiding rules, processes, and procedures.

Office Hours
Staff are available to respond to emails and phone calls Monday-Friday 10:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m.  The lot is open for previewing and picking up vehicles on Wednesdays only from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The office is closed on weekends and holidays.

Auction
All vehicle auctions supporting GESMV programs and services occur online, exclusively on our ShopGoodwill page.

Mechanical Condition
All Dayton Goodwill Auto Auction vehicles listed on our ShopGoodwill page are donations. GESMV does not conduct detailed inspections or verify the mechanical condition of any of the vehicles. 

HOW TO BID AND AUCTION RULES

Please read before bidding! Once a bid is entered, the bidder is agreeing to all of the following policies and procedures set forth by the seller:

  1. All vehicle auctions occur online, exclusively on our ShopGoodwill page. To place a bid, you must first register for a free ShopGoodwill account by clicking here.
  2. The full sale price(s) must be paid via our ShopGoodwill site before you will be contacted to schedule pick up, finalize paperwork, and collect tax/title/fees at the lot.
  3. ALL units are sold with NO WARRANTY expressed or implied. NO REFUNDS will be issued. Units are sold “AS IS“. 
  4. Vehicles are not fully tested and may contain additional flaws or missing parts that are not apparent to the seller, and therefore, not included in the listing. Please see vehicle photos for further details and bid accordingly.
  5. OUT OF STATE BUYERS are encouraged to call BEFORE placing a bid to confirm the processes for final payment, document sign off, and procuring transportation for the purchased vehicle, if required. 
  6. This auction is for serious bidders only.  Please do not place a bid if you are unable to meet the purchase requirments. If you win the bid and do not pay for the item, your household will be prohibited from bidding on future auctions from this seller. If a household member tries to violate this policy and wins/pays for a unit, the payment will be considered a donation to GESMV and the unit will be relisted.

Payment, Fees, & Taking Possession of the Purchased Vehicle

  • BUYER MUST PAY FULL SALE PRICE WITHIN 5 DAYS OF AUCTION CLOSE WITH CREDIT/DEBIT CARD OR PAYPAL.
    After payment of the sale price is received, the Auto Auction team will call you to scheule an appointment to sign documents and pay additional fees.
  • Appointments are on Wednesdays ONLY.
  • If the buyer cannot be reached in 3 attempts by either phone, email, or a service ticket, the vehicle and any monies paid will be considered a donation to GESMV by the bidder and the item will then be relisted.
  • All payments made at the car lot for the tax/title/fees can be paid with cash, credit/debit card, or a combination of both. We do not accept checks.

Additional Fees
In order to take possession of the unit, the buyer is responsible for paying the folllowing fees at the car lot:

  • Any TAXES for the county in which the BUYER resides
  • $18 title fee
  • $20 processing fee
  • $100 buyers fee**
  • OPTIONAL - If you wish to purchase a 45-day temporary tag on the day of pickup, you may do so for an additional $23.

**The $100 buyer’s fee will be waived if the buyer pays for the unit by 8 a.m. (EST) on the Monday morning following the close of the auction.
