Good Connections

Job Readiness Training That Empowers Individuals

Our vocational habilitation services empower individuals with developmental disabilities by providing structured opportunities to develop work-related skills, build independence, and engage meaningfully in their communities. These services focus on
personalized training, job readiness, and social development,
helping participants gain confidence and prepare for integrated employment or volunteer roles.

The Café

Individuals will receive training on ServSafe and food handling and safety procedures. Upon successful completion of training, individuals will be given the chance to apply their skills in the Good Connections Café, located within Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley’s Main Campus. With the support of a Vocational Training Coach, individuals will learn inventory, food preparation, operation of a point of sales system, and customer service while helping to prepare and cook a variety of food and beverage items for sale in the Café.

The Food Trailers

After individuals have demonstrated success in the Good Connections Café, they will be given the chance to train on the Good Connections Café food trailers. These food trailers are a mobile version of the Café, and they will operate at our retail locations, festivals, and special events. With the support of a Vocational Training Coach, individuals will prepare food to order, deliver orders, and serve orders to customers.

The Boutique

Individuals will receive training on customer service, retail techniques, and design as part of this training pathway. Upon successful completion of training, individuals will be given the chance to apply their skills at the Good Connections Boutique. With the support of a Vocational Training Coach, individuals will help design and screen print t-shirts and other apparel and goods for sale at local Goodwill stores. Individuals will also learn how to track and maintain inventory, organize and set up displays, and track sales for the Boutique.
