A Community For Mental Health Recovery
Miracle Clubhouse is a welcoming community for adults living with mental illness. Our recovery model, based on the internationally recognized Clubhouse philosophy, emphasizes meaningful work and collaboration. Members and staff work side by side to manage daily operations, make decisions, and create policies. This approach fosters empowerment and belonging.

I come to Clubhouse so I won’t be isolated. It’s also a way to motivate myself and stay positive. I’ve created good friendships who are like family, and we all help each other.

Empowering Our Members
Employment
Employment is central to the Clubhouse model. Transitional Employment (TE) offers part-time, entry-level jobs with local businesses for 6–9 months. The Clubhouse trains members, provides job coverage if needed, and rotates members through these supported roles. We also help members secure Supported and Independent Employment (SE/IE).
Education
Miracle Clubhouse encourages and mentors members in furthering their education. Members attend area colleges, work on obtaining their General Equivalency Diploma (GED), take certified peer
support classes, and improve their literacy.
Advocacy
Miracle Clubhouse works to meet all the needs of its membership. This includes advocating for individuals and for all those living with mental illness at the local, state, and national
levels. We also educate the community and work to reduce stigma.
Meaningful Work
Hospitality Unit
The Hospitality Unit allows members to plan, shop for, and prepare tasty and nutritious meals to be served for lunch Monday through Friday. A snack bar, providing snacks and beverages, is operated and supported by members. Our members are responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the Clubhouse building. Members are also involved in staffing Miracle Clubhouse’s reception desk as well as providing data entry and statistics analysis.
Business Unit
The Business Unit manages databases that cover attendance records, snack bar revenue, member outreach, and new member orientation. Employment and education opportunities are part of this unit. Members create a monthly newsletter and calendar of events, review finances, and work on media projects. Members grow and maintain a seasonal vegetable garden that provides produce for Clubhouse lunches.
Positive Outcomes
According to Clubhouse International, the Clubhouse experience has been proven to result in positive outcomes for many members, including:
- Members who take part in Clubhouse’s Transitional Employment program see longer job tenure and higher earnings than those in traditional job placement programs.
- Clubhouse programs are the most cost-effective compared to other services for people recovering from mental illness.
- Members have fewer and/or shorter hospital stays.
- Members have less involvement in the criminal justice system.
- Members report they have close relationships and a community of support.
Our Origins and a Growing Movement
Clubhouses are member-based communities where people living with persistent mental illness come to rebuild their lives. From the movement’s origins in 1948, Clubhouses in more than 300 communities across 28 countries have provided their members with this proven approach to rehabilitation, recovery and reintegration into the community.
In 2016, Miracle Clubhouse received international accreditation by Clubhouse International. At the time, it was only the 166th clubhouse worldwide to receive this honor.
