Time, Talent, & Heart: How Volunteers Move our Mission Forward
The definition of a volunteer is a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task. Volunteers are not paid, but they find the work they do rewarding. Few organizations can thrive without the help of dedicated volunteers. Enjoy today’s post written by GESMV’s Annual Fund & Community Engagement Manger, Sam Panson, as she shares her appreciation for our incredible volunteers. - Shari
April 20, 2026, is National Volunteer Appreciation Day, and Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley is grateful to engage a diverse and robust volunteer base, bringing together years of service and experience. Our volunteers provide connection and community to the people we serve through the Miami Valley and beyond.
GESMV offers over 40 programs and services to empower those with disabilities and other barriers to find independence. These services are supported by a team of more than 150 dedicated volunteers, giving of their time, talent and heart. Through the Radio Reading program, volunteers read printed materials over the radio to community members with visual impairments. Volunteers in the Adult Day Centers provide companionship and assistance to participants with physical and developmental disabilities, fostering connection and community. Additionally, volunteers provide mentorship and education help through GESMV’s after-school ALL Club on Main program. Throughout every program and every opportunity, volunteers provide vital assistance, talent and time to better the lives of the community we serve.
Whether in the Radio Reading Service, Adult Day Centers, Miracle Clubhouse, ALL Club on Main, or by supporting daily operations, volunteers are vital to the success of GESMV’s impactful programming.
