Miracle Clubhouse Open House and Ice Cream Social

The public is invited to join us from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sept. 14 as we officially celebrate National Recovery Month at the GESMV Miracle Clubhouse. The Clubhouse is a community organized to help people living with serious mental illness as they manage their illness and rejoin the world of employment, education, family and friends.

The Clubhouse’s work-ordered day structure provides members with opportunities for meaningful jobs; members work side by side with Clubhouse staff on daily activities such as preparing lunch, shopping for food and supplies, cleaning the Clubhouse, updating member records or filming a daily in-house newscast. Additional assistance is provided through an employment program, social activities, educational assistance, and community support services.

The Clubhouse has an average of 80 active members and an average of 24.6 members in attendance on a daily basis. Sixteen members have found permanent employment and 7 have received transitional employment placements in the last six months.

Every September, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services sponsors National Recovery Month to increase awareness of behavioral health conditions. This observance promotes the belief that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover from mental and substance use disorders.
