Child Screening

Every family looks forward to seeing a child’s first smile, first step, and first words. Regular screenings help raise awareness of a child’s development, making it easier to celebrate developmental milestones and recognize potential concerns early.

Every year, more than a million children will enter school with an undiagnosed developmental delay.
We want to change that.
We want to ensure all children start kindergarten with the right skills to succeed alongside their peers.

We Are Here to Help

At Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley, we know the first five years of life lay the foundation for a child’s long-term well-being and overall success.
As the leading provider of child screening services in the Miami Valley, we’re here to be your partner in raising a healthy and happy child. The Child Screening Program is open to residents in the 23 county region Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley proudly serves.

Because children learn and grow at different rates, even the most attentive parents can miss some important milestones. Regular developmental check-ups will help you be aware of your child’s skills in five key growth areas of development before your child starts kindergarten.
Here is how we can help.

Parents

We recognize that families are the real experts when it comes to their child. A parent is a child’s first and most important teacher. Our developmental specialists are here to offer tools, guidance, and resources to help families support their children's development before a child enters kindergarten.

Please take 10-20 minutes to check your child’s development with the Ages and Stages Questionnaires ®, Third Edition ™ (ASQ-3).
The Ages and Stages Questionnaire is designed for screening, not diagnosis. It is a quick check for children from birth through age five years.
Your results from the questionnaire will be emailed to you within two weeks.
