Coop’s Movie Scoop-Black Panther

By now, I’m sure you have seen the movie, Black Panther? If you haven’t, you’re missing out on one of the best superhero action packed films made in a long time.

Without giving up all the goods, how about I just give you a sliver of why this movie is so great; It holds an important meaning because today the world needs positivity, especially with all the racial tensions going on in the world.

Black Panther is based on a character named T’Challa who’s played by talented and handsome actor, Chadwick Bozeman. T’Challa who’d been gone for a while, returned home to the African nation of Wakanda.  He was to take his rightful place after the death of his father. It’s funny that when a person is next in line to take his or her throne, haters come from everywhere to stop it. And, this, my blog friends, sets the plot of story.

T’Challa had a few individuals who were not all that keen on him succeeding as king. Most of them probably would have killed him if they had gotten the chance, but the tribe had his back. T’Challa’s tribe consisted of some of the most skillful and strongest warriors I’ve seen in a film to date; I’m happy to say, many of them were women. Not only did this make me happy but extremely proud to not just be a woman, but a black woman.

After an awful life event was reviled to T’Challa, which he was not at all fond of, it was still his duty as king to protect his people. Often we are set in positions of power and that sometimes comes with making difficult decisions. Being king also did not take away T’Challa’s compassion. Although the job was to protect his nation, he knew when another does wrong it is still best to  try and make a wrong right; but often, people just won’t let you.

At the end of the day, T’Challa managed to defeat the enemy and defend his people. There’s even a little romance in this movie for those who are mushy like me.

As an African-American, I know this film helped motivate my community. There are not too many movies with serious plots offering the notion of us being superheroes. I’ve seen a slew of movies in this genre and they all have that comedy field to them. Meteor Man and Blank Man come to mind.  Although I’m not taken any thing from either of them, I just think Black Panther had a better storyline.  It helps the young from every diverse population.  Black Panther helps them understand, you can be anything you want to be. You just need to put your mind to it.

Don’t just take my word; go see Black Panther for yourself.  Also, be sure to tell me what you think. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
