Diversity Equity Inclusion

Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley (GESMV) is a culturally diverse agency and demonstrates awareness of, respect for, encouragement of, and attention to the diversity of the people we assist, GESMV staff, donors, volunteers, and other community stakeholders. One of GESMV’s core values is inclusion: we embrace diversity by respecting everyone’s strengths and talents. GESMV promotes an annual Cultural Competency & Diversity Plan that addresses the type of knowledge, skills, and behaviors that enables GESMV staff to work effectively cross-culturally by understanding, appreciating, and respecting differences and similarities in beliefs, values, and practices within and between cultures.

Our History

In 1934, we opened our doors as a Goodwill affiliate and focused on assisting people to live independently through job training and job placement services. This important endeavor, in the community, was based on the Goodwill model of focusing on empowering people through the dignity of work.

In 1999, we combined with another mission-focused organization known as Easterseals, which gave us the opportunity to serve children and seniors, thus broadening our scope of support for the communities we serve.

Today, this powerful combination known as Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley serves people with disabilities and other needs in 29 Ohio counties and numerous local communities, from Lima in the north, Portsmouth, OH. and Greenup & Vanceburg KY. in the south, Greenville in the west, and Urbana and Bellefontaine in the east.
