Guess Who’s Back

Hello All!

It’s Shari Cooper your favorite blogger in chief and I’m back!

Just like many other individuals, I was furloughed back in March due to COVID 19.  BUT I am now back and very happy because I’ve missed my work family and the blog nation.

Luckily, Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley can accommodate me with the technology needed to work from home.   Although I miss seeing all my co-worker’s beautiful faces, working from home is best for me. We all need to stay safe and healthy right now due to this crazy pandemic.

Working from home has its pro’s and con’s. The best part of working from home is that you’re in the comfort of your own place. I can grab whatever I want to eat whenever I want. I also can wear my fuzzy slippers which are more comfortable than work shoes. Also, if you have a pet like my big girl dog “Tiny”, they love having you home during the day for companionship.

As for the not so best part of working from home, I miss that human contact. Yes, you have your on-line meetings, but it’s just not the same.  Most thrive for that personal interaction. What I miss the most about not being in the office; chatting at the water fountain, greeting my peeps in the hallway, and our “lunch” meetings. COVID took the ability of human contact away from the world. Isn’t it funny how you don’t miss something until it’s gone?

Until last year, we were just walking around taking it for granted that we didn’t have to remain six feet apart. Now if someone gets too close to you without a mask, it freaks everyone out.

I’m a social butterfly and yes very much into fashion, so it is very depressing that I don’t have   to dress-up for work, put on make-up or do my hair.  Still, I often do all that any way because it makes me feel good. I found when I look good, I feel better.

Another weird thing about working from home is meeting by Zoom and all the other virtual meeting platforms. If you’re like me, every time I connect to join on a meeting, I hold my breath because I never know if it’s going to work. Computers are great but they’re man made and bound to have issues on an occasion.

Although I gave you my pro’s and con’s of working from home, I’m just glad to be back working and have a sense of normalcy. Life is all about having a routine and when it’s interrupted, it throws you off.

Now that I’m back, I feel more productive. I’m not one who sits back twiddling my thumbs. I’ll tell you what I’ve been up to since I’ve been off in the next few months so stay tuned.

For now, “Hello good people, I missed you”.

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!

Shari

    Good afternoon Shari,
It is so good to hear from you. I was also laid off in March and returned in early August 2020. You were one of the first employees I asked about. You have been such an inspiration to me and others. I am so thrilled you are back. I can’t wait to see you in person. Please take care of yourself. We will see each other soon. God Bless!

So glad you’re back Shari! I agree, the routine of work offers some much needed normalcy to our lives. Looking forward to in -person “hellos” in the future.

Welcome back my friend. I actually just got me a new pair of work shoes. They are unicorn slippers and they make me happy.
