My Life According to Baseball-Part Two

At the beginning of baseball season, I compared my life to the game of baseball. I enjoyed it so much, I thought I’d do part two.

Continuing with my baseball analogy:

When I’m feeling adventurous, I’ll often hit a Fly Ball. My new obsession is my air fryer. Many things can be cooked in an air fryer if you know how long it takes to cook them. My favorite guy, who’s an excellent cook, is keen on following recipes. Me, not so much.  I often just throw something in the air fryer, guestimate the time, and let it do what it does. This drives my guy crazy but it’s fun to me. Note: you may come out with some food misses, so get ready!

Although I love running like the Energizer Bunny, after a while, I run out of steam. This can be the same for many. Even when tired, I still want to do something. When this happens, I end up hitting a Grounder. I’m still learning that when feeling fatigued, I just need to chill because what I want or need to do is not going to happen. There’s nothing wrong with waiting for your batteries to rejuvenate.

Another one of my favorite plays is the Hit and Run. As you know, I’m the blogger-in chief for the Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley blog. I often write about topics that impact people with disabilities, especially topics that are already floating around in the community. It’s my hope that I can help move the trajectory of those subject matters while the topic is already in play.

Advocacy is my passion! I love it when laws are passed and enforced to improve the lives of people with disabilities. When in the advocacy zone, I feel like a Power Hitter. It’s at this time when my adrenaline is pumping, and I’m voicing my thoughts to try and make things happen. I’m so happy to live in Ohio where some of the best power hitters are…. like Marci, Renee, Nate, Michael, Robert, Tykiah, Zayne, Melody, Julie, Maria, and many many more. Ohio advocates rock!

I’m the type of person who always has somebody On Deck. As a person with a disability, I often must rely on people to help get things done.  I’m not oblivious to the fact that people are busy with their own lives’ therefore you shouldn’t keep seeking out the same person for assistance. It’s my suggestion that you always keep someone as a back-up for when you need him or her.

Lastly, I’ve learned you can get a lot of things done by running a Relay. There’s nothing wrong with sharing responsibilities. Many hands make light. Be sure to put the play relay into your rotation so you will not become overwhelmed.

This baseball analogy has been fun. It reminds me that no matter how life is going, I always have a play in my back pocket that can help me.

Enjoy the rest of the season and continue to play the baseball game of life.
