Thankful 2022

The Thanksgiving holiday is upon us and, I must say, I’ve got much to be thankful for. This year, I would like to give a special shout-out to my favorite guy, Darryl. Darryl and I have been together, going on nine years. Relationships are tricky and when adding a disability, I must say my guards were up, but Darryl’s unconditional love and support broke them all down. He has every attribute I was looking for including being hardworking, faith minded and having a heart of gold. Darryl is truly my best friend and I’m proud to call him mine. Love you Magic!

A few of my co-workers would also like to tell you what they’re thankful for:

Donna- Most people when asked what they are thankful for say “their family.”  And I am thankful for mine.  We had loss and health scares during 2022, but we survived and for that I am thankful.

But what I really am thankful for in 2022 is an opportunity given to me.  I was working in an industry where the work/life balance was very lopsided. I am not sure I would even use the word “balance”; it was so one-sided.  So, I made the choice not to renew my contract.  It was scary, I did not have a job lined up and I was looking for a job in a field new to me.

The afternoon before my last day, I still did not have a job.  As I worried about paying my bills, my phone rang.  It was Steve from Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley with a job offer.

On my first day here, I was overwhelmed with the kindness shown to me and so impressed with the opportunities offered to employees.  Something I had not seen in my previous job.

So, for 2022 I am grateful for the opportunity from Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley and for showing me there are some companies that are grateful for their employees.

Alicia- If I could count my blessings and name them one by one, they would be innumerable. The Lord has been good to me! So today, I am thankful for Jesus Christ and all He has done.

Christine-The past few months of life brought trying times due to COVID-19, but these difficult, challenging times gave me even more reasons to be thankful. The COVID illness brushed through my entire family leaving its marks. I am so thankful for the following:

Caring family who pulled together in amazing ways.

Outstanding doctor who bravely prescribed and saved our lives.

Victory in Christ – My faith is the greatest gift of all.

Incredible church members who prayed for my family and me.

Dad – I’m just glad to hold his hand and tell him I love him.

As you see Donna, Alicia, Christine, and I have much to be thankful for. Life can be challenging, but you must remember to count your blessings no matter how big or small. Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what you’re thankful for. May your reflections bring you hope for steadiness, peace, and blessings to come. Happy Thanksgiving!

In spite of having to attend Committal Services for my two eldest siblings, just four months apart; I too give thanks with a grateful heart. I am thankful that the division that I work in here at GESMV, is up and running as it is suppose to, with a new Team Facilitator/Case Manager.

Happy Holidays Everyone! I am so appreciative to be able to help so many on their journeys to improve their lives but I also see that our employees help each other as well regardless of their position. I want to encourage everyone to realize that you make such a difference, not only to your coworkers but our consumers as well, and it all starts with a smile and a listening ear! Take care everyone, starting with yourselves!
